Armory Arts Week: Jumeirah Essex House: 20 Bridges for Central Park by Aranda\Lasch

Curator Katie Gass has outdone herself with her latest commission as part of the Jumeirah Essex House Artists-in-Residence program. The installation called, "20 Bridges for Central Park" by the NYC based architectural firm of Aranda\Lasch is located front and center in the lobby of the hotel. It features 20 sculptural models of the proposed bridges alongside a handrawn overview of Central Park with the locations of each bridge model pinpointed on the map. The limited edition sculptures were inspired by the original Olmstead and Vaux bridges that are an integral part of the Central Park landscape.

a bridge and its corresponding location on the map (in the pond!).

Aranda\Lasch was commissioned to do the floor plan at this past December's Design Miami as part of Art Basel Miami Beach 2010.

The Jumeirah Essex House is an official partner of The Armory Show 2011.
